1. What resonated with you about Dig Deeper’s message?
I loved the way that it enabled anyone – yes, anyone – to access the Bible and its message with confidence, giving them the tools to ‘dig deeper’ into the text, gauge the original meaning, and find helpful and relevant application for their lives without distorting the text in any way.
2. How is the book as relevant for a church leader as it is for private Bible study?
The book was written by church leaders, and their Bible handling is such that many church leaders can use the book to good effect in sermon and talk preparation.
3. Dig Deeper concerns interpretation of the Bible. Did working on it help you see scripture differently?
Yes, the Bible is God-breathed, his Word to us, and fully reliable, but also it’s like a library, with many genres of literature, so understanding a wisdom book like Proverbs will involve a different set of skills (sorry, tools) from understanding Revelation.
4. What was the most rewarding part of working on this book?
The realization that the book would transform the way in which many young Christians approached Bible study in the future. Also, the authors’ enthusiasm was infectious, and Andrew Sach’s imagination knew no bounds – he even sent me pictures of lattes with pretty patterns on the top, which he was drinking as he worked on (later) Dig Deeper volumes.
